People in New York State who were polled say they want pepper spray to be more available for purchase.
A new Siena University Poll shows a majority of those surveyed want the state to remove restrictions on pepper spray and make it easier to buy. While it’s legal to purchase the non-lethal self-defense spray in NY, you have to be at least 18, it must be bought in-person from a licensed firearms dealer or pharmacist as online sales are banned. The restrictions exist because some consider pepper spray a dangerous, chemical weapon.
