Crash Reduction Effort

Monday, December 15, 2025 at 6:16 AM

The NY DOT reports that 44% of crash fatalities happen when a driver leaves their lane.

To reduce instances of drivers inadvertently straying from their lanes, more than $32 million has been awarded statewide to local governments.  In the North Country, the Town of Elizabethtown received $1 million to install center line striping, edge line markings, and enhanced curve signage on Lincoln Pond Road.  The funding is part of the DOT's comprehensive “Safe System” approach toward zero highway deaths.
