President of the organization representing Correctional Officers says prisons are in a systemic emergency.

President of the New York State Correctional Officers & Police Benevolent Association, Chris Summers, sent a letter to Governor Kathy Hochul declaring that the State Department of Corrections and Community Supervision is in a full-scale systemic emergency.  State representatives from the North Country were quick to respond.  In a statement Senator Dan Stec said the governor and DOCCS promised to address this crisis following the CO strike and more than a year later, they still haven’t acted.  Assemblyman Michael Cashman agreed that there is a systemic problem within the correctional facilities and said it’s long past time that state leadership steps in.
