The East Wing of the White House has been torn down, and crews are now clearing debris. Most of the East Terrace, which once linked the main building to the East Wing and housed the movie theater, has also been removed. President Trump said Wednesday his new ballroom project will cost about $300 million, up from $200 million, and will be funded entirely by donors, including himself. (Story URL)


President Trump has pardoned Binance co-founder Changpeng Zhao, who pleaded guilty in 2023 to a money laundering charge. White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt said the cryptocurrency exec was “prosecuted by the Biden Administration in their war on cryptocurrency.” Zhao also promoted World Liberty Financial, a cryptocurrency firm launched earlier this year by Eric and Donald Trump Jr. (Story URL)


Miami Heat guard Terry Rozier and Portland Trail Blazers coach Chauncey Billups were arrested Thursday in an FBI investigation into an illegal gambling operation tied to organized crime. Thirty-four people, including former player Damon Jones, face charges across 11 states. The NBA said both men were placed on leave while it reviews the indictments. (Story URL)


Harvard University’s latest data show a drop in Black and Hispanic students and a rise in Asian enrollment for the class of 2029. The report lists 11.5% Black students, 11% Hispanic, and 41% Asian-American. Harvard did not release figures for White students. The data come after the Supreme Court ended affirmative action in college admissions. Before that, about 18% of Harvard’s students were Black. (Story URL)


A four-year study in Southern California found that nearly one in five urinary tract infections were tied to E. coli from contaminated meat. Researchers said this issue may be widespread across the U.S. According to findings, 18% of more than 2,300 UTI cases matched E. coli strains detected in local grocery store meat.
