Joanna Kathlyn Kinman avoided jail time after being accused of a bizarre crime: Attempting to sell human toes that were regurgitated by dogs. Prosecutors claim that while the Australian woman was employed at an animal shelter, two dogs threw up human remains in February 2024. The dogs may have eaten the remains of their deceased owner before being brought to the shelter. Kinman allegedly took these remains home with the intent to sell them. When police searched her home, they reported finding a jar containing the toes, an alligator claw, bird skull, and her children's teeth. "I know someone who collects weird things ... I thought, ‘cool, it’s a toe," Kinman said in a police interview. She has been sentenced to community service instead of jail time. (The Guardian)
