Large Meteor Lights Up Georgia Sky, Hits Home Roof

A sizable meteor lit up the sky over Georgia, with a fragment crashing through a home's roof. The fireball, identified as a bolide, was observed in broad daylight, visible from Georgia to Tennessee and the Carolinas. The American Meteor Society defines a bolide as a bright meteor that produces a sonic boom upon entry. The impact of the meteorite in McDonough, Henry County, left a hole in the house's roof, but fortunately, no injuries were reported. The event serves as a rare reminder of the cosmic phenomena that occasionally intersect with life on Earth. (Upi)
