A 24-year-old American tourist is being accused of attempting to contact an isolated Sentinelese tribe and offering them a Coca-Cola beverage. Mykhailo Viktorovych Polyakov reportedly made a raft to visit North Sentinel Island in India, but was unable to make contact with the tribe. Before heading back, he left an offering of a coconut and a can of Coke. Police have filed charges against the young man for breach of protection of aboriginal tribes. "We are getting more details about him and his intention to visit the reserved tribal area," police said. It is unclear if anyone consumed the soda, but authorities note that the Sentinelese may be vulnerable to modern diseases. (newser)
