Young Wildlife

NY State officials are reminding New Yorkers to appreciate young wildlife from a safe distance.

The Department of Environmental Conservation says fawns, baby birds and other offspring may seem abandoned but their parents are often close by and well-intentioned interference can pose risks to the animals.  The DEC also reminds people that young wildlife are not pets and keeping them in captivity without authorization, is illegal and harmful to the animal.
