Preparations for the Saranac Lake Winter Carnival are underway with the theme of "Cartoonival".

Construction of the Saranac Lake Winter Carnival Ice Palace is reportedly underway. Organizers say that construction of the frozen structure is expected to be completed in time for opening day Saturday, February 7^th. The theme this year is "Cartoonival". Event posters and buttons are illustrated again this year by Saranac Lake native and nationally syndicated “Doonesbury” cartoonist Garry Trudeau and feature “Doonesbury” character Zonker.
