The State Police aviation unit and Forest Rangers teamed up to rescue a teen hiker from Virginia.
Recently Ray Brook Dispatch received a call about a 13-year-old who suffered an upper leg injury while hiking with a camp group from Virginia on Indian Pass near Wallface Mountain in Essex County. At 8:15 p.m., a New York State Police helicopter flew two Forest Rangers to the location. The Rangers splinted the hiker’s injured leg and harnessed the teenager for a hoist lift to the hovering chopper and flew the patient to the hospital.
