Staying Alive

CVPH will present a health fair at the mall on medical emergencies for people without medical training.

Responding to medical emergencies is the focus of a community health fair sponsored by CVPH tomorrow at Champlain Centre in Plattsburgh from noon to 4.  It’s called “Staying Alive” and the event will feature displays and exhibits about what to do if someone is choking, in need of CPR or having a stroke.  The use of an automated external defibrillator, called an AED will be explained and an overview will be given on how to administer Narcan.  According to Shana Riel, a CVPH clinical education coordinator, “Staying Alive” is aimed at people without a medical background.  She said “our goal is to provide practical, useful information” to be used in emergencies.
