2026 electric bills in NY State may see a slight decrease if a settlement agreement is approved.
A settlement has been reached with a transmission line developer that could result in more than $13 million dollars, plus interest, returned to New York electric ratepayers according to the New York State Public Service Commission. The settlement is now before the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission. Once approved, all residential and commercial electric customers in New York State will share in the refund. The PSC said ratepayers can expect the results of the settlement to be reflected in the “transmission charge” line item in their 2026 electric bills.
