REAL ID Starts This Week

New Federal ID requirements get underway on Wednesday.

A standard license will no longer be an accepted form of ID to fly within the United States or enter some federal buildings.  According to Homeland Security, the REAL ID Act passed Congress in 2005 and was recommended by the 9/11 Commission.  The Act establishes minimum security standards for license issuance and production and prohibits federal agencies from accepting noncompliant driver's licenses as ID cards in certain official situations.
