Older Drivers in NYS

The Governor's Traffic Safety Committee reports that older drivers are among the safest on NY roads.

According to the institute for traffic safety management and research, drivers aged 65 and over account for 21% of all NY drivers but are involved in just 11% of personal injury crashes.  On the down side, the research institutes reports, statistics show that older drivers in NY, who are involved in crashes, are more likely to be killed when compared to younger drivers and nationally the rate of fatal crashes involving older drivers is on the rise says the National Highway Transportation Safety Board.
