State Police will start to use a visor card when communicating Autistic drivers for safer interactions.
The New York State Police will be using the Autism Awareness – Visor Card Program to assist both members of law enforcement and individuals with autism during public interactions. In the coming weeks, patrol vehicles will be equipped with a card for use as needed. The card features simple visual icons that Troopers can use to assist with communication and reduce confusion or fear during interactions. In addition, anyone can download and print the card directly from the New York State Police public website.
