New York State Allocates Additional $1.35M for Veterans’ Services

An additional $1.35 million is added to the Veterans’ Nonprofit Capital Program to enhance services for veterans, service members, and military families in New York State.

New York State has allocated an additional $1.35 million to the Veterans' Nonprofit Capital Program, bringing the total funding to $5 million to support organizations serving veterans, service members, and military families. This third round of grants aims to help expand and improve services, with previous rounds distributing $3.65 million to 57 veterans' organizations statewide. The funding will enable these groups to modernize facilities, broaden services, and enhance care for those who have served the nation. Governor Kathy Hochul emphasized the state's commitment to supporting veterans, service members, and their families, aligning with her FY26 budget proposals for veteran suicide prevention and expanded support for Gold Star families. To qualify, organizations must have at least 75% of their members as veterans or military service members and primarily focus on providing services for them. The program provides funding for capital improvements like construction, rehabilitation, and equipment. Applications are open, with a webinar on the process available starting April 9. via Sun Community News
