Farmhouse Fire in Champlain

Fire departments from NY, VT and Canada battled a blaze in Champlain.

A large structure fire on Leggett Road in Champlain was called in late Tuesday morning.  Deputy fire coordinator for Clinton County emergency services and member of the Champlain FD, Chris Trombley, said upon arrival fire crews found heavy smoke and flames coming from windows and doors. Trombley said the farmhouse fire was contained to that structure saving a neighboring barn.  Responding to the call were Champlain, Champlain EMS, Rouses Point, Mooers, Beekmantown, Chazy, West Chazy, So Plattsburgh, Ellenburg Depo, Swanton, Alburg, St Bernard QB and Hemmingford QB. Chateauguay and Burk Provided stand by.  Two injuries resulted one person bitten by dog and a homeowner sustained some hand injuries.  Neither were life threatening.  Two adults and Two Children were displaced by the blaze.  The cause remains under investigation.
