Lt. Governor to run for Governor

The Lt. Governor announced he'll run against his boss, the Governor, in the 2026 Democrat primary.

The man who was chosen by Gov Kathy Hochul to be her lieutenant governor in 2022 will now be her opponent in 2026 as Antonio Delgado has officially entered the race for Governor. Assemblyman Matt Simpson, whose district includes Essex County, said “I see Antonio Delgado’s challenge as a clear sign of her faltering leadership.” Simpson said “She has consistently been one of the least popular governors nationally."
