An Essex County farm is on of this year's State Historic Preservation Award recipients.
Crystal Spring Farm in Essex was recognized for Excellence in Historic Preservation Stewardship. According to the state office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation, the owner--Willie Wilcox--utilized tax incentives to help stabilize and repair the farm's deteriorated horse barn that was built in the 1700s and a circa 1900s milk house. The state Historic Preservation Awards were created in 1980 and are presented each year to honor excellence in the protection and revitalization of historic and cultural resources.
