A bill regulating how employers treat employees when the weather heats up is lurking in the legislature.
A bill in the New York legislature that would have forced workplaces to establish temperature protection standards failed to come up for a vote in the recent legislative session. Amir Khafagy with Documented says business interests were opposed to the bill in its current form. He said it was especially opposed by Agri business and airlines. Meanwhile, a new federal bill that aims to prompt OSHA to develop a heat standard for workers nationwide may be on the way as well.
