This year Halloween spending could hit a record according to a group that tracks retail sales.
If North Country consumers follow the national trend, it will be a banner year for Halloween in the region. Spending for the end of October holiday is expected to reach a record $13.1 billion this year nationwide according to an annual survey by the National Retail Federation. That would be a record exceeding the $12.2 billion record set in 2023. The costume market is not just for kids anymore it also includes adults and pets. This year Spider-Man is the top choice for children, a witch or vampire is popular with adults, and a hot dog costume is the top purchase for pets.
