Data shows that High School students who complete the FASFA form are more likely to go to college.
According to a report by the National College Attainment Network, New York State's high school class of 2024 left almost $250 million on the table by not completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Meanwhile, New York's overall FAFSA completion rate for high school seniors in the Class of 2025 was 68%. Studies show that 90% of high school seniors who complete the form go to college directly after graduation, compared to just 55% of seniors who don't fill out the aid application. SUNY Chancellor John King said, encouraging New York students to fill out their FAFSA forms, helps them prepare to succeed at SUNY or another institution of higher education.
