Elise Stefanik’s UN Ambassador Nomination Pulled by President Trump

Citing concerns over House Republicans' tight margins.

President Donald Trump confirmed on Thursday that he had pulled Congresswoman Elise Stefanik's nomination for U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations. The decision was made due to worries that the tight margin in the House of Representatives would make it difficult to get her confirmed. Stefanik, a strong Trump ally and representative of New York's 21st District, had been under consideration for the role since Trump's reelection in November. Despite advancing out of committee in January, her nomination had been stalled in Congress due to the fragile Republican majority. Trump expressed that Stefanik’s role in Congress was critical to maintaining the Republican majority. Stefanik, known for her vocal support of Trump, had previously pledged to bring "moral clarity" to issues like antisemitism and U.S. foreign interests.  Via WPTZ
