Employees of a New York State Department of Motor Vehicles office were arrested and may face jail time.
A scheme to cheat on commercial driver’s license exams and process permits for no-show applicants has been uncovered at a DMV on Long Island. According to Nassau County District Attorney, Anne Donnelly, a 51-count indictment has been brought against three Department of Motor Vehicles Representatives, the sister of one of the employees, and three applicants. The DA described the scheme as involving “a ring of DMV employees who, working together, allegedly manipulated the commercial driver’s license exam process, allowing no-show applicants to cheat the system and skip their tests.” If convicted, the defendants face a maximum sentence 7 years in prison.
