Dead Skunk, Rabies Confirmed

Essex County reported that a skunk tested positive for rabies. It's the third animal this year in the county.

A deceased skunk in Elizabethtown has tested positive for rabies according to the Essex County Health Department.  Andrea Whitmarsh, a Program Coordinator at the Health Department, reported that the state testing lab confirmed the presence of the virus on Friday.  This is the third case of rabies in Essex County this year. The others were in a woodchuck in Ticonderoga and a raccoon in Westport.
