This year the Department of Environmental Conservation ushers in a change that archers have asked for.
Hunters in New York may now use a crossbow in the same seasons and places as a vertical bow for hunting deer and bear. Crossbows have been used in most of New York for more than a decade, but State laws limited their use. To hunt deer and bear with a crossbow during the bowhunting seasons, a hunter must have a hunting license and bowhunting privilege.
