Proposed legislation would limit the number of cows on a farm to reduce greenhouse gas.
Last week, word leaked out that a bill was being considered in the NYS legislature that would limit the number of cows on a farm. This week we’re learning the reason for the limit. North Country Assemblyman, Matt Simpson, explained that the members who sponsored the bill want to limit the cow heard in NY to reduce greenhouse gas emissions from cow flatulence. The bill is sponsored by Assemblywoman Linda Rosenthal and Sen. Jabari Brisport two New York City Democrats. Assemblyman Simpson said family farms have had to increase the number of cows to grow revenue to cover the cost of state regulation placed on the farming industry in NY State. Assemblyman Billy Jones said in a statement, “I don’t believe this ill-conceived legislation will reach the floor for a vote this session.”
