The annual Department of Environmental Conservation statewide burn ban ends today.

The New York State burn ban that began on March 16th ends today.  The State first enacted strict regulations on open spring burning in 2009.  Prior to the ban, DEC officials say the most frequent cause of wildland fires was brush burning.  Since the ban started the number of springtime fires have decreased according to the DEC.
