Border Apprehensions Down

Friday, November 28, 2025 at 6:39 AM

The Border Patrol sector covering Northern New York and beyond reports a big reduction in encounters.

US Border Patrol Swanton Sector reports a 91% reduction in apprehensions for the month of October.  Last year Swanton Sector Agents apprehended 1,026 individuals attempting to cross the border.  This October, that number dropped to just 85 encounters according to information posted by the border patrol.  Officials believe this sharp decline reflects the impact of strengthened border security policies and enhanced enforcement measures.
