Police say car involved in accident had been reported as stolen.
A noontime accident on Old Military Road in North Elba led to the arrest of a Philadelphia man on Tuesday. State police say their investigation revealed that the vehicle involved in the single care accident had been reported stolen by the Saranac Lake Police Department. The operator, 46-year-old John F. Kimberly, was arrested on multiple charges, according to State Police, including criminal possession of stolen property in the 3rd degree, criminal possession of stolen property in the 4th degree related to a motor vehicle, four counts of criminal possession of stolen property regarding credit cards, and criminal mischief. Kimberly was arraigned in the Town of North Elba Court and was remanded to Essex County Jail in lieu of $5,000 cash bail or a $10,000 bond.
