Arbor Day

A national observance celebrated on the last Friday of April.

Arbor Day was first celebrated in 1872 and was established to encourage farmers and homesteaders to plant trees that would provide shade, shelter and beauty to open areas.  Today, environmentalists talk about climate change mitigation, air purification and habitat preservation when observing Arbor Day.
