An option on a major contract will bring more than a billion dollars in rail car business to Alstom.
Alstom announced that NJ TRANSIT has exercised options to purchase additional commuter rail cars. The total value of this purchase is approximately $1.1 billion dollars. NJ TRANSIT is the nation’s largest statewide public transportation agency. According to the Plattsburgh North Country Chamber of Commerce President, Gary Douglas, this purchase is in addition to the 174 Multilevel III railcars currently under production at Alstom's Plattsburgh plant. Douglas said, "This is the sort of order that will bring years of work to the Plattsburgh plant with additional great jobs."
