Study: If Vaccination Drops, Measles Might Become Endemic Again

Thursday, April 24, 2025 at 8:00 PM

Measles has not been continuously present in the United States since 2000. However, recent research suggests that just a 10% decline in vaccination rates would result in an estimated 11.1 million cases over the next 25 years. Researchers warn that we may be at a tipping point. "If vaccination rates go 5% lower, you'll have tens of thousands of infected patients," Dr. Mujeeb Basit cautioned. "The trend is what people need to know." So far in 2025, there have been 10 reported outbreaks and at least 800 cases in the United States. (AOL)
