Study Finds Adblock Plus Users Encounter More Problematic Ads

A study by New York University revealed that Adblock Plus users face 13.6% more problematic ads than those without ad blockers. The research focused on the US and Germany, finding a 17.6% increase in problematic content for US users and a 21.8% increase for users under 18. About 10% of ads shown to minors violated age-based regulations. Individual ad networks displayed a 34% rise in problematic content when targeting Adblock Plus users. While the ad blocker reduced overall ad volume, the quality of remaining ads deteriorated. The study did not receive specific funding and was conducted by NYU computer science faculty and students.
