Researchers in Hungary have discovered that dogs really are our best friends! A recent study found that dogs outrank humans in relationships most of the time. Participants were asked to rate their dogs and their human partners, best friend, and child...and dogs tended to outperform fellow humans. Romantic partners beat dogs in one area: intimacy. Researchers discovered that the dog-human bond resembles parent-child relationships, but without as many negative interactions. "Dogs occupy a unique place in our social world—offering the emotional closeness of a child, the ease of a best friend, and the predictability of a relationship shaped by human control," study author Enikő Kubinyi said.
