Americans received more in their tax refunds than they expected, a recent Talker Research poll commissioned by TaxSlayer found. The survey of 2,000 Americans found that participants expected to receive $1,700, but ended up getting about $2,300 instead. 64% have already spent their tax money, and all respondents said their refunds would be spent on necessities like rent, groceries, and paying down credit card debt. "This study confirms that people are strategic about how they use their tax refunds in general," Seth Babb of TaxSlayer said. "By planning ahead, you can focus on what’s essential and be intentional about your spending decisions." (Talker Research)
